Orquesta Canela is back in the US, making their stop here at SOBs. The band is composed of 14+ beautiful ladies who are unique in that they have an exclusive membership of only females. From the lead singer to conga player, everyone in the group is a woman.
The all-female band from Colombia, which was started twelve years ago by Maria Fernanda Munera (who began as the group's percussionist and now is its manager) features LP artists Alexandra Alban (congas), Elizabeth Delgado (timbales) and Anayanci Hoyos (bongos).The Columbian beauties have proven themselves to be much more than just pretty faces.

This five piece band mix salsa with reggae, funk, jazz and hip-hop to create their own unique style guaranteed to pack the dancefloor! Fronted by the enigmatic Damian from Havana, they are also comfortable with the many Cuban salsa and son classics. Damian is a dynamic and experienced vocalist comfortable with classic standards as well as new styles such as timba and reggaeton. Also a professionally trained dancer, he has been surrounded by the many musical influences of Havana throughout his life. Then on guitar is the virtuoso Jim who's montunos swing and solos take it to another level! The rhythm section comprises Andy on bass, Arturo on congas and Rich on kit/timbales. Their vibrant style and energy are guaranteed to provide an electric atmosphere.

SERIOUS ABOUT SALSA AND MORE THAN A NIGHTCLUB~ CALMHEATHER NOW OPEN TIL 1AM EVERY FRIDAY….CLASSICALLY TRAINED AND EXPERIENCED DANCE TEACHER~ We have a class/club on a Friday night in Whetstone, 8-1am with a club atmosphere but avoid the nightclub feel…its warm and friendly and have some amazing dancers visitors and regulars…..it has an amazing sprung wooden dance floor, happy bar prices,very friendly crowd,……and the music people travel for, loads of parking and just 5 mins from M25 and A1 (folk come from Devon, Southend Windsor….even the Poland and Dominican Republic when they are over)….
we have a unique venue at the ALL SAINTS VENUE…easy to get to…exclusive (many places are part of a public bar) and one of the best and largest sprung wooden dance floors around….
…also so large that if you do turn up and find an ex or 2 there…there is no problem….plenty of space to loose yourself !!!
….the theme of the evening is always respect…
8.10-9.10 separate complete beginners, beginners and improvers class 9.10-10.10 intermediate and probably the best advanced class around…lots come from other clubs to advance their learning as we have one of the most advanced lessons….even the salsa teachers come to learn
We attract a variety of ages from 12-80..and from top eye surgeon to cubans just visiting!!
We are well qualified and have Police checks in place
no need for previous experience or a partner…even if you only have left feet……
