Thursday winter party hours are back. Social dancing will start at 9:30pm sharp to accommodate those who have to get up early but still like to squeeze a few dances in.
City Salsa Vibe brings you a great night of Social Salsa! This is the time to come out and practise all your moves in a social setting that is more comfortable for beginners every Salsa Passion Thursday at the Howard Johnson Hotel. Whether you are there to learn some new dance moves and meet some new people in our complimentary beginner lessons, hang out with friends or dance the night away – we have what you need. The doors open at 8:30 and we don’t stop the music until you stop dancing. Viva la Salsa!

A pure mambo dancer's social brought to us by NJ performer, instructor and all-around nice guy Mario Gonzalez, AKA "Mambo Mario B". There may be dance performances at some socials to be announced. This event is now being held at Mario B's new studio, recently renovated. There is a good size wooden dance floor which is bit "slow" to "medium speed" (so wear your more slippery shoes), a good DJ sound system, free bottled water and snacks & dips, and beverages such as juices will be sold. No age limit to come and party. Everyone is invited! No dress code…."dress to sweat"….come as you are to dance hard. In the summer, it can get hot so wear very light casual clothing.
An On 2 mambo social held in a neighborhood salsa dance studio with 1 medium size room. The crowd ranges from 50 to 100 dancers, depending on whether it's a regular social or a special event with several performances or other special attractions, and depending on whether there are many dancers from the wider mambo community; where music is almost entirely pure classic salsa plus a little cha cha, bachata & merengue. played by DJ Mario B and DJ Pablo Toto plus guest DJs sometimes. Dancing in Almost entirely "New York On 2" timing and style.

MIGUEL RICO
Corona Salsa Champion 2001, Scala Latina Salsa Champion 2003 and UKA Salsa Champion 2006-2007, UK Professional Salsa Champion 2007 
are some of his rewards and achievements since he started this amazing journey 8 years ago. Miguel's musical interpretation is a gift from his both musician parents, this knowledge and experience makes him stand out on his performances and freestyle. His personality is contagious.
MAYANA
Mayana’s love for dance started at an early age, she followed her heart and went to one of the best Russian Dance Academies where she studied dances from traditional to contemporary. She continued teaching various dance styles until she found Salsa. UK Professional 2007 Salsa Champion, she trained & performed with the Duende Dance Company.
What really makes her unique in her dance style is where she combines all the knowledge she has of various dances, creating her own signature as an elegant and stylish dancer.
AS PERFORMERS:
Miguel’s & Mayana’s shows are simply breathtaking, their performances reflects their unique style where they both combines Miguel's flavour & charisma and Mayana's playfulness & elegance.
Their shows bring passion and energy to the dance floor inviting the audience to feel the music through their bodies and movements.
Their brand new shows 'Mi Borinquen' won them UK Salsa Professional Competition in 2007. And in 2008 “Descarga Musical” is taking UK by storm. Both shows portray their abilities to dance from Puerto Rican Salsa Style to 'On 2' New York Style.
AS TEACHERS:
On numerous occasions Miguel & Mayana have taught and performed Internationally and have taken part in European Salsa Congresses and Festivals, always bringing fun and a relaxed and supportive atmosphere into their classes.

The Singapore International Salsa Festival this year will be held in D’ Marquee, Downtown East Singapore. Now, for the uninformed … Downtown East, a popular tourist destination offering a myriad of entertainment choices, harnessed the power of dynamic digital signage to disseminate vital information to its patrons and customers.
Occupying a vast area of 14.7 hectares, the amenities offered by Downtown East include theme parks (Wild Wild Wet and Escape), resorts (Costa Sands Downtown East and Pasir Ris), F&B outlets (foodcourt Rasa Singapura, fast food restaurants etc), retail shops (Watsons, Giordano etc), gaming centres (Zone X and X Square), children’s play centre (ExplorerKid) as well as MICE facilities (D’Marquee, function rooms).
The 2008 Singapore International Salsa Festival is organized by JJSalsaRengue, established by June & Jackson a well-known dance school in the Singapore salsa scene. June & Jackson are one of the few pioneers to build the salsa scene in Singapore and continues to actively support local and international salsa events.
The festival this year boast more than 30 dance workshops and performances by over 20 international dance instructors and performers from countries such as USA, UK, Puerto Rico, Venezuela, Australia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia and of course home-bred performers/instructors from Singapore too. With such an array of dance teams, the event will definitely be a blast !
