Havana Dance Workshop
April 12 - 28, 2002
Dance performer and instructor, Ramón Ramos Alayo was born in Cuba and graduated from La Escuela Nacional de Arte in La Habana with an MFA in dance and education. He is ranked as one of the top modern dancers in Habana and has been a featured soloist with Compania de Danza del Caribe and Narcisso Medina Contemporary Dance Company. Ramón now resides in Oakland where he continues to perform with numerous premier dance companies and is one of the Bay area's most sought after instructors.
This is the fifth workshop hosted by Mr. Ramos Alayo, combining a renowned dance program with immersion into traditional Cuban culture and splendid sightseeing both in and outside of Habana.
The 2-week program features daily workshops in popular and folkloric Cuban dance styles. The Havana Dance Workshop includes:

PARTICIPANTS The program is available to both dance participants and non-dancers. |

FACULTY
Classes are taught by choreographers and principal dancers of the acclaimed Ban Rarra Dance Company. Ban Rarra is an internationally acclaimed company with extensive experience in instruction to foreign students of all levels.
CURRICULUM
Participants will learn contemporary styles including Salsa, Rueda de Casino, Chachacha, Son, and Mambó. Folkloric styles include Afro-Cuban, Afro-Haitian, Changui and Yoruba Bantú.
Dance classes are scheduled Weekdays from 10 am to 3 pm in Habana Vieja.

REGISTRATION:
Advance registration is required and enrollment is limited to 12 persons. This program meets the standards and guidelines for legal entry and return from Cuba. Registration closes March 10, 2002. A non-refundable deposit of $700 is required to register.
PROGRAM PRICE:
Dancer tuition $2,350.
