How To Dance!  The age old question, or more specifically, what's the best way to learn to dance.

For 90 percent of those reading this blog, it's not a question of how, but a question of when. You haven't yet taken your first step! The answer for you, the majority, is simple. You have to get to a dance class! It's not an easy thing to do mind you … but as New Years approaches, it's the perfect time to get started learning how to dance (and yes, specifically, how to dance salsa).

So, when is NOW! Make that first dance class appointment. You have three choices! Step up, and just do it. A group salsa dance class. Most of you will be scared, some of you will be excited, and a percentage of you will ask why. To those with a bit of fear running down their spine at the mention of a dance class, search out a private lesson or two prior to actually starting your group class. This will make you feel more comfortable, and make you the star, of any group class you eventually make it too.

Another option, is dance videos and DVDs (of which, hey, we're the leader). These options are for those whom want to learn how to dance at home!  That's a great way to start learning how to dance, and gives you a lot of practice time prior to your first group lesson.

Regardless of which option you take, the group lesson remains a constant! Learning how to dance, specifically how to dance socially, requires group classes. You have to get out there, you have to dance with other people, and yes, you have to take that first step into a ballroom, dance studio or nightclub ….

I hope you take that first step! Once you begin the journey, your life will never be the same …

I think it is!

The stellar SalsaCrazy Halloween party was really amazing. After 10 years of the largest parties in San Francisco, this one took me by surprise. It was just so darn fun! Perhaps it was my amazing costume, that somehow, just really fit me. I was completely in character the whole night, and almost entirely unrecognizable (until I started salsa dancing of course).

Pretty funny eh? Yep, I thought so … Great fun. 3500 people. Great energy. Another spectacular, unparalleled San Francisco event.

Coming up soon – we have our more modest, yet enormously fun, Salsa Saturdays grand opening at Rockit Room. That's just next week, and will be the start of another fantastic event (fun) event for San Francisco salseras (and salseros too).  Massive lessons, phenomenal music, the best Bay Area dancers, and two floors, as well as a really HOT and fun crowd, has made this venue the largest in San Francisco. But really, it's the fact that the place is run in a very welcoming, classy, and friendly way. The vibe is always fun, plus it's GREAT for beginners!

Come to the party next week – we hope to see you there!

But with the Holidays upon us, there is SO much more happening, not the least of which is the upcoming announcement of our SalsaCrazy New Years plans. And no, I can't tell you about it just yet, except to say, it sets a new standard for classy, upscale, and beautiful venues, yet leaves out none of the crazyness and fun of New Years. Prepare to be impressed. And yes, live band too …

I can't believe how fast yet another year of Salsa Dancing has flown by. It's nearly time for an historic salsa retrospective, perhaps covering the last two decades of salsa, both here in the Bay Area, and abroad. We'll save that for another day. I have a party to prepare for …

Oh, and yes, I think there's a Thanksgiving day sale coming up around here somewhere …

Oh, and finally, since you read to the bottom, our cruise to South America is completely sold out (and has quite a waiting list), but we're about to announce a new salsa cruise, and this one is pretty stellar indeed. Keep up to dance on the next dance cruise.

Oh, and what post would be complete without mentioning SalsaCrazy's flagship return of the Hawaii Salsa Festival. A total re-birth of a stellar event, this will be the salsa festival of the year. Truly, get those tickets early. Prices are rising, and you do NOT want to miss this!

SalsaCrazy is having another Salsa Dance Party!
Saturday, November 20th, at the Rockit Room …

You do NOT want to miss this Salsa Dance Party. Why?

Salsa Dance Party, Salsa lessons, salsa music, salsa band

You have to be there!

Salsa Clubs come and go, but a SalsaCrazy party, well … that's something special. Always built on the foundation that salsa is fun, social, and best practice with NO attitude, these parties are the largest events in the San Francisco Bay Area, and always draw a truly fantastic crowd (of truly fantastic people).

This iteration, strongly inspired by the long running "Canvas" salsa dance parties, has the same neighborhood vibe, with music blasting throughout a moderately residential area, out onto the streets surrounded by restaurants and coffee shops – the "vibe" will hit you long before you even see the club. It's going to be great!

Live music by Orquesta Borinquen, and salsa dancing on two floors, finishes a spectacular night that starts with Salsa Lessons and Bachata Classes for beginners, BOTH starting at 7pm (SHARP).

There is no partner and no experience necessary! The lessons will have hundreds of people there, and you will absolutely LOVE them. Yep, they're just that good. Never danced? No problem, start the night with salsa dance lessons. You'll dance ALL NIGHT LONG. :)

After the beginning lessons, there are continuing lessons at 8pm. Yep! That's right. There are FOUR hours of lessons, on TWO floors, before the party. How great is that?

Once again – never danced? No problem. This is the place for you!
A beginner, improver, or intermediate? Come to the 8pm Classes …

All the classes are included! :)

The Date is – Saturday, November 20th!
The Location is – Rockit Room, 406 Clement Street, San Francisco.
The Time to show up is – 6:45 (before the Lessons)

Invite all your friends. This is going to be a great night!

Are you ready for some salsa dance movies? Some salsa satire? Whom will be the first to register SalsaSatire.com?

Before going any farther, have you seen the FIRST TWO EPISODES?

Ah, finally another episode of the Salsa Dance satire movie! Episode 3 explores our salsa newbie's life after they made the fateful (and often times, irreversible) action of joining a salsa dance troupe. Now, I'll keep my own commentary on the salsa dancing movies to a minimum. With my decades of experience, I feel like I could easily be waxing philosophic for many hours, when all you want to see is the funny stuff. I promise to talk more about the demise of salsa, and why, after the movie's conclude. They offer great insight!

All I want to say is – these episodes are hysterical and biting, and true. Like so much of the best parody and satire, the truth is funnier than any fiction could possibly be.

Here it is, Episode 3, Congratulations to Salsa By Jake . com for their inspired comedy. It's another laugh filled romp.

Hope you enjoy it – feel free to comment below, or comment on SalsabyJake's youtube channel!
