Salsa Dance News and Views from Not-So-Sunny San Francisco

Well, Jellys was a madhouse, but it was great. I don't think I've ever stayed quite so late dancing up a storm. I'm usually in by four, and out by 6, but this time, stayed until 9:30.  The duo of Anthony Blea and Mazacote was just too much fun, and they kept me, and the packed, packed, packed house, dancing the entire afternoon/evening. Of course, it was overcast, but it certainly didn't feel cold. What happened to the sunny weather? June's gotta bring more sun with it than this.

This week, tomorrow, we have Danny Lozado (Timba, ex charanga habanera singer), playing at Jellys on Friday. His last show, 2 months ago, got rave reviews, so I'm hoping that I'll at least be able to drop by and check it out. Saturday, at Roccapulco, it's Avance, and that is ALWAYS a good time!  Congrats to Tony and Oscar O, whom I know hear are the official new owners (perhaps promoters?) of Roccapulco. It will be interesting to see what changes they have in store for the club!

The Hawaii SalsaThon inchens closer, and five days of sun and surf in Hawaii is right around the corner. Are you planning on attending? Drop me a line!  As I look out my window onto the overcast rough seas, I'm thinking Hawaii is a pretty good idea.

The NEW CD by Isaac Delgado, the first since moving to the US, is now available, and early reviews are quite good!  Now that I'll be teaching again, at least for June, withe DanceSF Salsa Dance Classes, I'll be on the lookout for some good new music for class. Also, there's a new Spanish Harlem Orchestra album.

I know everyone wants to know about the next Canvas party, but we have to keep the location under wraps for now . . . should be fine to say it out loud any day now, stay tuned.
