Salsa Dancing Crazy? Well, this is the Weekend for It. Salsa Dance News for the San Francisco Bay Area

Just got back from Vegas (yes, again . . .), and you can expect another crazy review, with more shows, more food, and more crazy tales of adventure soon (preview: it just keeps getting better), but first, let's get right to it. More news coming, but for now, buckle your seat belts, as East Bay Salsa continues to Sizzle tonight, Thursday, as Johny Polanco comes to Karibbean City, and Maxwells hosts Mazacote! Is East Bay Salsa taking over?  It can only mean good things for Salseros, as we have two great options for salsa tonight.  This Friday, it's the Alf and Alf post Gypsy Kings party, or perhaps it's a mellow night at Cigar Bar, or even a crazy night at Mojitos with DJ Antonio spinning salsa, or a crazy night of salsa dancing at the New Roccapulco?  Lots of choices, plus, over the weekend, tons of salsa and outdoor choices at El Rio, Jellys and the Ramp – all sporting live salsa music.

I'll be teaching classes again in June, so spread the word, because I'm back (at least for one month). ;)   Actually, I can only make 3 of the 4 classes, but I'm really looking forward to this session, as I haven't been teaching salsa much for the last few months. You can signup and register at,, the San Francisco Bay Arae Salsa Dance School, and my class is the Monday night class at Pick Ballroom. Go ahead and register for it now, and please tell your friends, because I've been on break for quite some time.

Anyone going to join me at the China Salsa Championships in Beijing in August?  Anyone been salsa dancing in Beijing? Looking forward to it! Then, perhaps travelling a bit in Asia (Thailand, Taiwan), so let me hear from you if you've travelled there, or have any insights.  Of course, before then, and coming up next month, it's all about Hawaii (an easier trip).  The Annual SalsaThon is right around the corner, and Salsathon is a great excuse (as if you needed an excuse) to travel to Hawaii. You've got sun, sea, surf, and salsa. What else would you possibly need?  Let me know if you're planning on going!

Also, make sure to take a look at the Complete Salsa Congress Calendar, listing all upcoming salsa dance congresses and salsa dancing festivals around the country and around the world.  If you see someting missing, be sure to add it!  We want to make it complete.  Speaking of Salsa Congresses, it's the upcoming Los Angeles Salsa Dance Congress, known as the West Coast Salsa Congress, in just a couple of weeks. A fantastic congress, know in it's seventh year, it's moving indoors, and that can only bode well. It'll be smaller, and more intimate (for a 5k person affair that is . . .), and should be great fun with one of my favorite bands, Sonora Poncena. I wish I could make it this year, but it's going to be tough (to put it mildly).  Are you going? Would love to get a review!
