SalsaCrazy Last Canvas Salsa Dance Party, This Saturday, April 7, 2007

Change is coming . . . Can you feel it?

It's April 7th, and it's coming! The last Canvas Party. Over 3 years of parties are coming to a crashing, thunderous end . . . and yes, I'm both happy and sad about it.

I've always relished change!  Status quo? Who needs it.  Routine? Why bother! Same old thing . . . is just that . . .  Life is all about change, whether you want it to be or not.  Live with it, adapt to it . . . and indeed, relish it.  I'm often craving it. All too often people can view change as negative. Perhaps the change relates to an event that can be perceived as negative. Examples: I lost my job, my studio is closing, my girlfriend is gone, my super fun party is losing it's home, etc . . . All of these things might be viewed by people in a negative light.  Well, not by me. I relish change, and I refuse to see things negatively.  Yes, I've had a house foreclosed, yes I've had my car repo'd, yes, I've lost relationships, friends, and loved ones . . . yes, I've even lost hair (damn …), but it's all life, and your enjoyment in life will be significantly impacted by how you react and adapt to change.

Don't like change? Well, often times, it simply is not your decision! Life will often force change upon us, and in those instances, I say . . . look at it positively. Give me a reason to pack up and move halfway around the globe (as if I need one at this point), and that's what I'll do, and I'll do it in a positive way. I hate to get all "The Secret" on you, but there's a really good point to this movie, regardless of whether you believe in the laws of attraction, spirituality, or not. It takes unique individuals to view even the most extreme, seemingly negative circumstances, in a positive light. Sometimes, it's almost hysterical  – and when it's that bad, you simply laugh. A few laughs, will go a long way.

Anyway, lightening up, the point is, The Canvas Party, a fun event, that over years reached thousands upon thousands of both old and brand new dancers, is going bye-bye, as the location has been sold (and yes, I did try to buy it). It's going to become a fish restaraunt (a darn good one – Pacific Catch), and they'll be no more salsa dancing, coffee, or art shows. Yes, I'll be sorry to see it go, but I'll also be anxiously awaiting what takes its place.

So, if you've never been to the Canvas, come out on April 7th, it is our LAST date! This will be the last one (we were trying to the 14th, but alas, it's not going to happen).

I will miss it!  It started one day at coffee, when I looked aroud and kinda just marvelled at the space, and how it could be used. I never thought it would take off, being such a neighborhood joint. It's survived through countless changes of help, partners, and crowds, and now it's retiring.

So, let me take this opportunity to thank everyone whom has ever come to the event, and those whom will come to our closing party(ies).  I hope you had a great time. It was a lot of fun, I enjoyed it a lot personally, and enjoyed providing something unique even more.

Change is good, and I promise you those things yet to come, will do the music, the dance, and all of us, justice. Keep dancing, and keep it crazy (and stay positive). ;)   I hope to see everyone there . . .
