When did you join RicaSalsa?
"I joined at the beginning of April 2001."

Why did you want to join? Tell me the story of how you came on board.

"I knew one of the current dancers (Sergio) and since RicaSalsa needed a few more girls he asked if I was interested in joining. At first I was reluctant to do so, since I had made up my mind to quit dancing a year before, but my love for dance made me join. Mi sangre me llama!"

Where are you from? How long have you lived in the Bay Area?
"I was born in Granada Nicaragua,moved to San Mateo at the age of 10, and lived there for 13 years."

When did you start dancing salsa?

"In my country dancing Salsa is a must, and so my mother tough me at a really early age. I would guess around 6 or 7. I didn't take any lessons until two years ago when I started checking out the Salsa clubs in the area."

What do you like most about dancing in the troupe?

"I like working in a team, where everyone's ideas are valid and encouraged, but mostly I like how a troupe takes everyone's individual talent and unites it to put on an energetic and flavorful show."

"...you wake up thinking about what patterns you could do to the last song you heard before going to bed."

Do you teach? "No"

What do you do when you're not dancing or working?

"I love to spend time with my family, especially my 15 month only niece who already shows signs of a future dancer. And when I'm not with my family I like be surrounded by my friends whom I love and miss very much."

Tell me 3 things you like about your RicaSalsa dance partner.

"I like this easy going attitude, his sense of humor, and his ongoing energy"

Please describe your dance performance history, including any awards,competitions, shows, etc.

"Well, my first performance was in Nicaragua at the age of 5 where I performed Flor Klor (Nicaragua's folk dance). After that I studied Modern dance and performed at the age of 7 at La Casa de la Cultura in Granada."

After moving to the United States I attended Bayside Middle School and was fortunate to have learned El Baile del Quetzal (Folk dance from Guatemala) and performed it at several High Schools in San Mateo County. While I was in Burlingame High I choreographed several Merengue pieces to performed at our Rallies. At the age of 17 I began taking Flamenco lessons at Rosa Montoya Bailes Flamencos in San Francisco, and performed in the student concern for 3 consecutive years at San Francisco State University. At the age of 19 I became a dancer for a High Energy Bay area group called Emotion in Motion. The group consisted of a singer and two dancers. We got to perform in clubs and events in the Bay area, and where fortune to travel to Texas to perform. At the age of 21 I began teaching beginning ballroom at Arthur Murray in San Mateo where I remained for a year."
