Nadine,
My name's Vicky, and I started salsa dancing in January. Let me say I now understand addiction! I count down the days until the weekend when I can go salsa again. When it's getting late at the club I tell myself, " Okay, I'm going to leave after this song....OK, well this next song is good too. I'll leave after this one..." You get the picture. It's so bad I even have developed a secret alter identity. When I talk to my friends about salsa, the ones who understand, I refer to myself as La Rubia. As in, "He came back for more of La Rubia because one dance was not enough." (Of course this is all tongue in cheek).

Hey Vicky,
I totally share the addiction experience with you. I don’t even bother promising myself to leave after the next song anymore. When I go out, I know that I’m going to be out til the bouncers kick me out. Why fight something that feels so good? (The dancing that is, not the bouncers.) The next day at work, though. Oi. HoOk me up to a CaFfEiNe-dripping-IV bag of PeEt’S will ya?
And the alter identity thing? YES!!! =) You may exist during the day as the productive contributor you are to science or the world economy. However, as soon as the sun slips over the horizon, you peel off your day-gear and slide right into your salsawear. Behold, the Salsero of the Night is released. Beware. Some day, your working world may occupy the same space and time as your salsa universe. When that collision occurs, which person will you be?
